LARGO, Florida — This time, she found herself on the wrong side of the law.
A nearly-20-year veteran Florida cop was fired after she was busted for driving in reverse through a quiet neighborhood and honking her horn while dead drunk, police said.
Christi Ruhtz, 41, was found behind the wheel with bloodshot, glassy eyes and reeking of booze early Sunday morning after cops received calls from neighbor’s complaining about the disturbance, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s office.
Ruhtz, who had worked for the sheriff’s office since 1998, agreed to perform field sobriety tests but failed miserably, the department said. A Breathalyzer test revealed a blood alcohol level of .14, nearly double the legal limit of.08.
She was charged with DUI and placed in cuffs. Ruhtz was fired immediately after the arrest, in accordance with department policy, the sheriff said.
Ruhtz worked as a lieutenant in the Sheriff’s public records processing unit.
