LEBANON, Ohio — A cue ball-bald Florida has been busted for stealing $22,000 worth of the hair growth product Rogaine from stores all over Ohio.
Andres W. Arias, 36, of Boca Raton, pleaded guilty to the theft spree and has agreed to pay the money back and will serve two years in prison, the Ohio Attorney General’s office said.
Arias was working as part of a criminal theft ring that operated from Florida to New Jersey. He would target drug stores in southwest and northeast Ohio where he would boost Rogaine, dietary supplements and over-the-counter weight loss drugs.
Authorities said Arias would stash the stolen drugs inside large pockets he had specially sewn into his pants to conceal the illicit goods. Between December 2015 and February 2016, prosecutors say Arias walked off with $22,000 worth of drugs which he would send to associates in New Jersey for resale.
Prosecutors called him a “professional thief.”
“Organized retail theft costs Ohio businesses and consumers tens of millions of dollars every year,” said prosecutor David Fornshell.
