STILLWATER, Minnesota — A few millimeters to the side and he would have had a lobotomy.
A Minnesota builder narrowly avoided catastrophic injury or even death when a nail from a nail gun shot straight into his head.
Nick Thompson, told KMSP-TV that he was helping frame a closet when he fired a nail from nail gun above his head and it ricocheted back into his face, forcing the projectile through hi eye and two inches into his brain. He said he thought there may have already been a nail in the frame where he was aiming, which may have caused the grisly accident.
“This was the most ferak thing that could have happened that I didn’t die from,” he told the station. “I don’t know what else to say than that.”
He was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors miraculously managed to remove the nail without serious injury.
“One more millimeter and it was a lobotomy,” he said. “One more millimeter and I would have lost my eye. One more millimeter this way and I would have been dead. There are so many things that could have gone wrong. I don’t know how everything went right.”
