GUARA, Brazil — She gave birth to a criminal charge.
A Brazilian woman pretending to be pregnant was caught smuggling a baby-sized block of cocaine concealed inside a watermelon shell tucked under her shirt.
The São Paulo woman had boarded a bus bound for Rio De Janeiro while pretending to be pregnant, but was searched after authorities received a tipoff about a narcotics smuggling ring, according to the São Paulo police.
A search revealed that the woman’s so-called “baby bump” was actually a watermelon harboring four bricks of cocaine paste that weighed around 4.5 pounds total.
The woman confessed that she had been paid $100 to take the coke from Paraguay to Rio.
São Paulo police described the ploy as having “creativity without limit.” The woman has been charged with drug smuggling.
