VERO BEACH, Florida — Talk about having a burning passion for your team.
A 27-year-old Florida man suffered severe burns after he and his pals agreed to torch the jersey of the losing team in Sunday’s matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers.
Only problem was that he was still wearing it, authorities said.
“He was set on fire after losing a bet on the Cowboys game … Skin was hanging off his arm and back,” a witness told the Sebastian Daily.
The man, whose name was not immediately released, suffered third-degree burns on his right arm and right hand and second-degree burns to his back.
Police say family members told them that they had agreed to burn the jersey of the team that lost the game. After Aaron Rodgers marched the Packers down the field for a last minute score to win the game 35-31, it was decided to burn the man’s Cowboy’s jersey.
The man told cops he was drunk and thought it was perfectly fine to leave the jersey on while it burned.
Relatives quickly yanked the flaming shirt off and rushed the man to a hospital.
