BEND, Oregon — A woman who drugged and abandoned kids at an illegal daycare center she ran so she could go to a tanning salon, has pleaded guilty.
January Neatherlin, 32, was busted last March when cops found seven children under the age of 5, drugged with melatonin and alone at her Little Giggles Daycare in Bend, Oregon while she had run off to a tanning salon.
She pleaded guilty to 11 counts of first-degree criminal mistreatment and one count of third-degree assault, and could face up to 35 years in prison when she is sentenced in March, the Bend Bulletin reported.
Cops discovered the drowsy kids — the youngest being 6-months-old — in an upstairs bedroom with no adults to be found. One of the infants was sleeping on a padded “toy couch” and had vomited on himself.
Prosecutors say Neatherlin had on previous occasions left the kids to go work out at a gym.
Neatherlin has been in jail for almost a year since her arrest and while in custody, allegedly tried to convince three inmates to confess to her crimes, offering one $50,000, the Bulletin reported.
She has several prior felony identity-theft convictions under the names January Livsey and January Brooks.
