SPRINGETTSBURY, Pennsylvania — It must have been one hell of a pot pie.
Pennsylvania police say a family argument over how much pot pie had been eaten led a son to try to slash his father’s throat with an ax.
Cops say Kevin Blanch, 30, blew his top on Sunday after his 61-year-old dad Dennis demanded to speak to him about eating too much pot pie the night before.
According to Pennlive.com, the younger Blanch refused to discuss the matter of the pie with his father and tried to walk past him. When the old man wouldn’t let him through, the son grabbed his throwing ax and threatened his father with it.
Police records say the father taunted his son by saying “Do it!” several times leading Kevin to take a swing at his father’s neck with the ax. A struggled ensued and the father was hit in the chest with the weapon.
Kevin Blanch then tried to pull a knife out of a sheath on his belt, his father grabbed it. When asked what he had planned to do with the knife, the younger Blanch told cops he was “going to end things quickly by slicing his father’s throat.” He told officers that he wanted to “neutralize the threat,” and that he “wanted to kill” his father, court records showed.
“K. Blanch said that one thing he remembered from his training in the military was how to neutralize the threat,” police said in court records.
When cops arrived at the house, they found Kevin Blanch standing outside with blood on his hands, neck chest and shirt. His father suffered wounds to his chest, neck and wrist and was expected to live.
The son was charged with aggravated assault and held on $75,000 bond.
