WEST PALM BEACH, Florida — A sweet old granny she wasn’t.
Florida police arrested an 88-year-old woman in West Palm Beach after she allegedly punched an employee at a Walgreens in the face.
Bernice Shaw was charged with simple battery and released on her own recognizance following the Thursday assault.
Police say Shaw walked up to the counter around 1 p.m. and began screaming at staff about an incident where she had fallen in the store a few months earlier, the Palm Beach Post reported.
When an employee tried to calm her down, Shaw allegedly swiped her hand away and told the store clerk to get away from her, police said.
The shop assistant then walked away but when she came back a few minutes later to return an item to a shelf near where Shaw was standing, the enraged granny walked up and punched her in the face with no warning, cops said.
Shaw lost her balance in the process and fell to floor despite the employee trying to break her fall. Police say Shaw wasn’t hurt.
