WESTWOOD, Massachusetts — It’s going to be a while before his first day on the job.
A man who had led Massachusetts cops on a high-speed chase almost got away when he ditched his car, walked into a cell phone shop and started filling out a job application.
Jose Jimenez, 26, had been wanted for running over a police officer’s foot when fleeing a traffic stop last week, WBZ-TV reported. When officers spotted him Tuesday morning, they gave chase until he got off an expressway and ditched his car in Westwood.
He then calmly strolled into Osprey Wireless, asked if there were any jobs available and began filling out an application.
“He was as cool as a cucumber,” employee Jeff Maron told the channel.
Cops weren’t far behind, however, and were steered to Osprey Wireless by witnesses who said they saw Jimenez go inside.
At that point, “We’re hearing police helicopters outside, there’s police coming in from every direction,” said Maron.
Officers walked in and told Jimenez it was time to go and he gave up without incident.
