ASHEVILLE, North Carolina — Being a Good Samaritan isn’t always all it’s cracked up to be.
Police in Asheville, North Carolina say a person who stopped to help a man who was lying motionless on the side of the road, got robbed and stabbed for his trouble.
The bizarre encounter unfolded on Monday evening when the victim stopped their car on an exit ramp from the I-40 and spotted a person not moving by the side of the road, cops said.
The driver rolled down their window and asked if the man needed help and when the person didn’t respond, the driver got out and walked over.
When he got close, the suspect demanded his wallet. When the man refused, the man on the ground stabbed him in the leg and ran toward the wooded area.
The victim transported themselves to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect is described as a white male, 6-feet-tall, and approximately 180 pounds. He has a beard and light brown hair down to his shoulders.
