SWANSEA, Illinois — That’s one foul bird.

Police in southern Illinois have put out an all points bulletin to find the owner of a gray-feathered fowl that showed up on a resident’s front step and won’t leave.

“Missing chicken. Found 1501 North Illinois. Loud. Belligerent. Non-cooperative. Foul smelling. Won’t leave. If you have lost your chicken, call us,” the Swansea police department posted on its Facebook page.

“Serious police work here folks,” the department was quick to add.

Several commenters noted that the bird was not actually a chicken but a guinea hen, which are known to be noisy and sometimes ill-tempered and territorial.
