FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida — You’ll never get away with trying to screw Uncle Sam.
A Florida man has pleaded guilty to stiffing the feds out of hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxes from earnings he made working as a high-priced male escort, federal prosecutors said.
Authorities say Jami Kopacz, of Fort Lauderdale, admitted using his company, JK Training, through which he booked many of his trysts, as a vehicle to hide his real income and avoid paying tax.
Federal prosecutors say Kopacz ran the scam from 2015 through 2018, filing false corporate and personal tax returns that “substantially underreported” his income.
The fraud ultimately cost Uncle Sam more than $278,000 in lost tax revenue, prosecutors said
He faces a minimum of three years in prison and will be required to pay the money back.
