LOWELL, Massachusetts — It was not the cleanest of getaways.
A Massachusetts man who fled police disappeared after jumping in the Concord River in sub-freezing temperatures to avoid arrest and hasn’t been seen since.
Lowell Police say they arrived at a home Saturday to investigate a domestic violence and vandalism incident when they man took off and dove into the water.
Officers began a search and called in the state police and the Lowell Fire Department, but found no trace of him.
They then called in boats, divers, sniffer dogs and even a drone but could still not find any sign of the man.
“This is not the desired outcome, regardless of the circumstances that led to police involvement with this individual,” said Lowell Police Commissioner Kelly Richardson. “Life and safety are our primary concerns, and right now our main preoccupation is with finding this person.”
Police say they have been in regular contact with the missing man’s family.
