BROOKLYN CENTER, Minnesota — A soothing cup of tea, this wasn’t.
A Minnesota woman allegedly shot her grandson in the leg after they got into a screaming fight over where he left a cup of tea, police said.
Helen Lenoir Washington grew angry after her grandson placed the steaming cup on a wooden table, KSTP-TV reported.
When he refused to move it, she dumped the liquid out, Brooklyn Center police said. But instead of leaving it at that, the grandson made another cup and put it back on the same table.
Washington responded by pulling out a gun and shooting her grandson in the right leg, cops said.
Washington told police she was angry that the victim placed a cup of tea on the wooden table, and that she shot him in the leg because she was angry, a criminal complaint said.
She has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
