GALVESTON, Texas — A family is dealing with a double dose of heartache after the sister of a missing man has disappeared while out looking for him.
Cops in Galveston, Texas now say they think foul play may have been involved after they found the missing woman’s van burned beyond recognition.
The case was opened a week ago when 65-year-old Rogelio Escobar failed to come home after heading on his daily walk to a local convenience store, KPRC-TV reported.
“Last time I saw him, he was walking to Buffalo Speedway,” a neighbor said.
Two days later, Rogelio’s 61-year-old sister, Dina, went to his house to look for him and also never came back. Her van was found two days later burned to its framework along the beach near Galveston Bay.
Investigators say even the car’s VIN number had been destroyed, suggesting sinister intent.
“Our experience over the years working cases like this … we feel as though there’s foul play,” Tim Miller of the missing person’s group, Texas Equusearch.
