BELLMEAD, Texas — An unhinged Texas man who cops say confessed to decapitating his wife and sticking her head in the freezer has been indicted on murder charges.
Davie Dauzat, 23, told investigators that he slaughtered his 21-year-old wife Natasha in front of their two young kids on Aug. 25 as part of “a battle between good and evil,” the Waco Tribune-Herald reported.
Dauzat, who has remained in custody on $500,000 bail, admitted to the cops that he had taken drugs the day of the slaying, but it was unclear what he had taken aside from marijuana he had smoked with his wife that morning.
The killing occurred hours after Bellmead police officers went to the couple’s mobile home to do a welfare check following a call from Dauzat’s brother who reported that his sibling was acting strangely.
Police returned after a follow-up call from the brother and discovered Natasha Dauzat’s body. Initially Davie Dauzat refused to surrender resulting in a standoff with cops but he eventually agreed to turn himself in.
The couple’s two children, ages 1 and 3, were rescued from the house covered in blood, but were otherwise unharmed, court documents revealed.Child protective services have sought to place the children in foster care.
