TORONTO — That’s one seriously angry bird.
Police in Toronto are hunting for a suspect who was wearing an Angry Birds costume when he beat an American tourist unconscious after the man made a crack about his outfit.
The brutal beating took place in the early morning hours the day before Halloween when the Angry Bird costume-wearing hooligan approached the 24-year-old victim as his pals.
Police say the victim “commented on the costume” of a character from the popular Finnish mobile video game, but didn’t specify exactly what was said.
Whatever it was, the man in the costume “suddenly turned around and began to assault the 24-year-old man and knocked him to the ground.”
He then continued to punch and kick the victim as he lay on the ground, leaving him with serious but not life-threatening injuries. Police say the victim continues to suffer from head injuries he sustained in the beating.
As the attacker was wearing a costume, he has only been described as standing around 5-foot-10 or 6-feet tall, cops said. But investigators say there were a large number of people in the area at the time of the assault and are looking to speak with anyone who saw anything.
Cops are also hunting for any surveillance video that may have captured images of the attacker.
