AUSTIN, Texas — A parent’s love is the toughest kind.
A Texas dad turned his 18-year-old son into police after the teen confessed that he’d been breaking into cars and showed his old man a police gun he’d stolen from one vehicle.
“I decided to put my foot down and I stopped it for him,” Theodis Daniel told KVUE-TV. “If he would have stayed out here doing what he was doing, he was going to die.”
When Austin police came to Christian Daniel’s home, they found several handguns, including the one that was reported stolen from Houston Police Department, as well as. several ammunition magazines, a gas mask and the bag with other police equipment.
The Austin teen’s undoing came when he was having a FaceTime call with his father in Houston and then showed him the police gun and other department equipment.
“He was like, making a joke, bragging about it. ‘Yeah I broke into 250 cars last week,’ and I was like, ‘How in the hell did you do that?!’ ‘Oh I just went after one after another one after another one,'” Theodis.said.
Cristian has been charged with theft of a firearm, out of county felony, and unlawful carrying of weapon. He was held on a $40,000 bond.
“I’d rather him be upset with me than me burying him because he was on a path to self destruction,” his father said
