FRAZER, Pennsylvania — A woman is accused of fatally shooting her husband in a drunken fight over a burnt casserole and then trying to stage the scene to make it look like he killed himself, police said.
Pennsylvania authorities say the deadly encounter began Monday night when 38-year-old Teresa Drum took her husband, Dennis’s last beer and he began berating her for burning dinner the night before.
According to court documents Dennis Drum, 42, pulled a handgun from his holster. Teresa later admitted that she grabbed it while it was in his hands and it went off striking him in the forehead and killing him, the Valley News Dispatch reported.
But instead of calling for help right away, police say Teresa hopped in the shower to wash off the blood, and then snapped a photo of her dead husband and texted it to a friend for advice about what to do.
The friend told her to call 911 and when paramedics and police arrived they found Dennis curled up on the floor with the gun in his right hand and Teresa told them he had shot himself. She then showed them the photograph which showed no gun in her husband’s hand, leading them to question her further.
She eventually admitted her hand had been on the gun when it went off but said she did not know how the gun ended up in his hand after she had taken the photograph.
Teresa was charged with homicide and held without bail. Police said the couple’s two kids, who were in the house at the time, have been taken to stay with relatives.
Cops said they had responded to one call for a domestic disturbance at the couple’s house in the past but that that episode had not been violent and no charges were filed.
